Odd Clover is now on stand-by. I spoke to my daughter about it and she's fine with waiting. I was surprised because she's been pestering me about it for over a year now. Once she started seeing it come to life she ramped up the nagging, but thankfully she is understanding enough to know it had to be set aside. Ever feel so pressured to finish something you just couldn't stitch anymore? That's where we were with Odd Clover. I feel so much love for it, but honestly, it was time to switch to something else.
What has been calling to me was Tapestry by Ink Circles. This pattern was lounging around in my box for awhile and when a couple fellow Flosstubers stated they were doing a SAL with that pattern I exclaimed joyously that I was in. I've found several others who have finished this lovely piece. Honestly, I'm pleased this is still a WIP as it's entirely too pretty NOT to have around.
I stitched the flower and green leaves on the left side. Isn't this so lovely? I feel like I may have to stitch this one again. That never happens! Once this is finished it will become a lovely quilted wall hanging for my friend Dee Dee whom I've known since we were 15. A matching one hanging in my home would really be perfect, don't you think? It will also have me stitching this lovely piece forever which is fine by me!
After I finished the flower, it was time to put the fabric on the scroll frame in preparation for the Unconventional X Stitch Stitch a Thon AND there's a fun little stitch along going on in March for WIPocalypse where you have a focus piece that you stitch on every day for the entire month of March. Originally, this piece wasn't going to be started until my brother's birthday on March 3rd, but March 1st works for me.
My brother lives on a 32' Grand Banks fishing boat in Point Baker, Alaska, population 15. Remote, out in the bush, far away from people, places and things....all describe where and how he lives his life. Just because he lives there doesn't mean he can't have pretty things! Also, he's my biggest fan when it comes to cross stitch and crafty stuff in general. I'm itching to start, but must wait patiently.
For now I have project bags to make. Yesterday was three project bags made, but I accidentally melted the vinyl on one and had to take that as my own (oh gosh that's so sad hee, hee), but did end up with two lovely bags that will be in my shop momentarily.
I wasn't sure this fabric would look good. I was wrong! These are lovely, bright and colorful. So glad I messed up on one! Today my goal is to finish nine project bags with this lovely paisley. I believe there are only three that will be similar, the rest will have different lining and zippers, etc.
My son is home today so I will not be enjoying the company of Lucy the best dog on the planet which means sewing will happen, so much sewing.
I also have a bit of a pie chart on my timed stitching to share. I thought I would have a better pie to show as I went and put one or two minutes on my Stitch9Challenge but that just made it look dumb.
There is an app called Timesheet that my friend Leonore told me about while we were chatting one day and I LOVE this app! My pie will look much better next time I share. I have to put the WDW floss back in the project bag for Unseen Things and figure out if I need to order more. I may even work on that this week, who knows?
For now, sewing calls to me as does my audio book by Janet Evanovich HOT SIX. I'm loving this series so far and do recommend them for a good laugh if you are stitching, knitting, crochet, sewing.......doing the dishes (shudder) or whatever mind numbing and total waste of time chore you feel you must do. There is swearing, but for the most part, it's just good fun.
Demand a hug today, you deserve it! Follow up with a lovely cookie and may your day be as beautiful as it can possibly be.
Until next time.....KEEP ON STITCHIN'!
Tapestry is a very pretty piece. I am going to be checking out that app Timesheet. I like seeing how people breakdown their time on projects.
ReplyDeleteTimesheet is awesome! I'm in love with it. There is a little learning curve on deleting breaks and changing times if you walk off for awhile forgetting to turn off the timer, but once you get that it's easy :D
DeleteYes I had a piece that did that to me. My grandfather asked me to do a family crest piece. I wanted to do it so bad. It was like a HAED and was going to take FOREVER. I worked on it pretty hard for a year and got 7 of 22 pages done. Then it hit me. I probably wouldn't finish it before my grandfather passed away. I hated working on it. I wanted no needed it finished. I literally hated stitching anything. When I picked up something else I felt guilty I wasn't working on the crest. Finally I got up the nerve to talk to my grandparents and they totally understood. They didn't want it to cause me problems. It was a hard decision but I don't regret it at all. I love the tapestry piece. Beautiful colors. The new mermaid is too cool!! Can't wait to watch it grow. Love your new project bags too. Good luck getting more made up.
ReplyDeleteYES!! That's exactly how I feel! Thank you for being more eloquent about those awful feelings.
DeleteThe mermaid will grow all throughout March so we get to see how far I get on it before the end of the month!
Such pretty project bags and I love the Ink Circles piece, looks very complicated.
ReplyDeleteYes, Odd Clover is better to be kept in WIP-jail until you actually want to work on it again :) I totally understand the feeling, and the Tapestry is so gorgeous, no wonder it's calling to you!
ReplyDeleteLove your first pie chart! I still think you should put all your crafty projects in there to fully show how awesome you are, though.
