I haven't done this in awhile, and since I had everything I needed to complete a project, I signed up for FNSI and check out what happened!
So first, you know I needed batting. I had the Friends BOF wall hanging and I have Pat's Quilt to finish, both have backing fabric but I need that batting. It just so happens that Joann's had some fabulous coupons: 50% off one regular priced item and 20% off total purchase price.
I found a roll of my beloved all natural cotton batting for $14.99 a yard and got 3 yards for a mere $22.00. There was also this package that had a piece of 35" x 45" cotton batting that was already 50% off so I picked that one up for $5.00. Happy camper is what I was and still am!
Last night I put the backing on and then put the binding on with the possessed machine...which is strangely being very good to me. I think it's all the talk of replacing it with a very expensive Bernina that has it working. I haven't even had to perform the incantation (really it is a slew of profanities loudly directed at the evil thing) in order for the machine to cooperate! I can say for certain that the machine prefers expensive threads. Fine, as long as it works. And work it did!
Not the best picture, and I will have to take a better one later.
For my Friday Night Sew In, I'm going to say this is a WIN!
Crossing another thing off my list for Finish It Up 2016! And because this is even more important...MANY thanks to Wendy at Sugarlane Designs for having the Friend's BOF in the first place...so much love for this project.
Until next time.....Keep on Stitchin'!
This is just gorgeous, love the colours you have chosen. Roll on Spring
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, come on Spring! I'm helping as best as I can :D

ReplyDeleteThis is ALL your fault! ha ha! Thank YOU for creating the pattern! May we have more please? Another BOF perhaps?
DeleteAwesome finish! I love the bright colors and how cohesive it is!
ReplyDeleteThank you! My daughter has the eye for color and found the fabric and I am so grateful to her for finding it :D
DeleteNice work on the quilt, lovely affirmations too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Isn't this just so wonderful? Wendy sure designed a great little project :D
DeleteA lovely finish and glad to hear that your machine co-operated.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Secretly I'm still thinking I need that new machine...but I won't say that near the possessed one :D
DeleteWhat a beautiful quilt .pleased you were able to finish it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad The Machine cooperated. It did so badly with the initial putting together part, but the binding was a dream sew!
DeleteThis is so beautiful, I really wish I could make stuff like that :)
ReplyDeleteLeonore my love you TOTALLY CAN! Between Jessamy and I, we can get you started and then you can go hog wild! Do you know how much "stuff" she and I have that it would be so simple to put something together in a flash for a starter kit? Just say the word! OH! And when Wendy does another BOF you get signed up for that as well and we can do it together :D
DeleteI'm not sure, my sewing skills are still really limited...I need practice! What would you recommend to start with?
DeleteMagical and I have plans for you, so don't you worry <3
DeleteNow I am both very excited and a little scared :D
