That Time AGAIN

I absolutely love how each year I learn something new about myself.  This year wasn’t about learning per se, but about accepting.
Accepting that try as I might, I cannot plan my year out like a few of my very good friends and many bloggers I follow.  I admire their tenacity and ability to stay on track and not lose it when glitter is presented….my theory here is they are annoyed when glitter is present and set to work vacuuming up said glitter so they can continue onward as planned, but I could be wrong.
Since 2012 I have wanted to end each year with all projects completed and no WIPS to start the New Year.  Boy was that a silly idea!  This year I have so many more WIPs I’m beside myself! I have to admit I get this from my maternal grandmother.  It’s not a flaw; it’s just really fun to start new things.  Finishing happens so it is not a total catastrophe.  I’ve read some blogs where a person has over 200 WIPs!  And don’t forget those who do a start per day for a year. That’s 365 WIPs.  I don’t’ have nearly that many, but applaud people who do that deliberately and know what they are doing.
As my GF’s and fellow bloggers have said, perhaps planning my year out isn’t for me.  I won’t be doing ToT next year (and may hand that one over to someone who wishes to continue with it) but will continue onward with TW…I CANNOT ever leave that alone.  I will probably sign up again for SFS if Mel is going for it again in 2016, and I will go for the monthly goals.  The Merida Sunday Stitch should continue in the next couple weeks after the Halloween SAL is finished and the new Speed Stitch Competition is over on Stitching Pirates.
Are you all as busy with life as I am?  This is has been stuffed full of changes and has sped by so fast my head is spinning!
We all know that the fine art of putting a thread through the eye of a needle always leads to good memories and stories and beautiful creations, please continue making history!
Until next time…..Keep on Stitchin’

  1. I only have as many WIPs as I can properly store them. And right now I don't have much space which helps keep the numbers down ;) I do try to plan out my year, but it's never set in stone. You never know what opportunity will pop out of no where or what inspiration will strike you.

    1. I agree! And things pop up all of the time which makes me feel like a serious berserker stitcher at times :D

  2. I only have 3 WIPs currently and my focus has really been on one. I know for me I'll get the urge to start something new but then I'll think about how much I like working on my current one and watching it grow and the urge goes away. Not really vacuuming the glitter just switching to a different color glitter :)

  3. You know, I didn't even try to finish everything, just to keep the number of WIPs at the same level throughout the year, and even with that I failed misarably! I think I added about three or four this year, not counting the ones I'm positive to also finish, so...well. I'll probably try just going with the flow and cut down on SALs next year as well :)

    1. I'm confident not one of us has helped you to stay focused! It seems you were fine without our bad influence and then two years goes by and you have WIPs and stash and so much more!

    2. But then, I wasn't half as much addicted to cross stitching back then, and didn't know about all the goodness out there! You ladies have showed me so many great things this past two years ^_^

  4. Understanding more about yourself is perhaps one of the best outcomes possible. We each approach our stitching and every aspect of our lives somewhat differently. I say go with the approach that makes you happy and fits with your lifestyle. However you approach new starts, WIPs, and finishes have fun as you do it.

    1. Very well put! It's funny that with my stitching I'm all over the place since the rest of my life is so orderly...a definite contradiction :D

  5. ToT was an awesome plan, I hope someone does take it over, even though I was horrible at it, lots of small stuff it turns out is not for me. I guess I like to savor the glitter I have and just enjoy new glitter from a distance.

    1. It's quite alright :D We all know who takes the cake on smalls this year! There is also another SMALLS SAL that is awesome so I may just save ToT for some other year and bring it back :D

  6. Your Tiny ornies are cute, but like you say Heather already does the Smalls SAL plus there's my Hallowe'en blog and Kaye's Christmas one if people like themes for their tinies.
I always choose a certain number of designs I want to stitch that year but this is the first time I started them all for the DUCJC in Debbie's memory. Next year I will revert to my usual finish one, start one routine. It works for me.

    1. Exactly! If I had known about Heather's Smalls I would have gone with her :D The Halloween blog is FANTASTIC and I'll stick with that if you continue onward...Halloween year round is awesome! It is my firm belief that no one will forget Debbie any time soon, but I have been enjoying the blogs I follow that are doing a start a day in her honor....there has been much shopping because of that ha ha!
