D.E.S.I.G.N. Part Two for March

At the beginning of the month I said there would be a Part Two for D.E.S.I.G.N.  and here it is!

Many people in general may or may not know who Jim Shore is and if you don't then your head as been stuck firmly in the sand (hmmm that sounded downright opinionated and judgmental didn't it?  Sorry for that!).  He is an American artist who actually bases his art on historical American quilting!  I'd love to see his collection of quilts...but I'm afraid he wouldn't want me pawing through his old collection like a lunatic let loose from the asylum without my meds.

I'm thinking that bit of country and quilting combined with the colors he chooses for each piece he creates seriously defines him and I'm confident you couldn't pass by something made by him without exclaiming "OH! Jim Shore!"  Well, I cannot....some artists have such a definitive style it's hard to NOT know who they are after awhile.

Which brings me to cross stitch...I was as surprised and pleased as could be to find that Jim Shore had graduated to cross stitch!  About time if you ask me, but apparently this falls under the heading of "If only I had been looking sooner".

No time like the present to find someone!  And yes, I have a thing for sheep...grew up with sheep all over the place and I like to put the little woollies in my kitchen and THAT is how I found Jim Shore in cross stitch...looking for some smalls with sheep.

Naturally this led me to looking for snowmen because a year ago I realized I don't do enough seasonal or "Christmassy" stitching and why not add more snowmen to my mix of things?  Jim Shore obliged by having come up with North, South, East and West.....yes, had to have all of those kits.

I do not know why there are playing cards, but when I saw Ace, I had to have it.  If you don't know what ACE is (not referring to a playing card here even if Jim Shore is), I will explain in a later blog when I feel more confident sharing that, but I HAD to have this one as well.

Just LOOK at all the STUFF!
What about the kits that make them so neato?  Brace yourself because it's pretty darned good!  These cuties are completely kitted out for your stitching pleasure.  They are quality in a little packet.  Seriously, I don't gush on about kits (except for Unconventional X Stitch those kits are so incredibly elegant!) and usually have nothing great to say about kits in general, but these are complete with everything you need. They fit in your purse...even if you have a small one!

I will be stitching more Jim Shore in the future and I'm crossing my fingers there are more sheep patterns and/or kits...my kitchen demands more sheep!

This may also shock you.....but I am actually using the fabric that came with the kit!  Strangely I like the color even if it is Aida, but it just "fits".

For Ace there are so many glorious beeds for the center spade I cannot wait to get the stitching done so I can bead it up!

If I wasn't on a pattern fast right now I'd already own the Cat Series, the Winter Series, the Santa Series, and Harvest Trio.  But I will have to wait until the fasting is over....which gives Jim Shore more time to create a few more :-D  For you Disney lovers...no cross stitch yet, but if you like the figurines then check out his Disney Traditions!

And there you have it!  Part Two of the March D.E.S.I.G.N.! Until next time my people...Keep on Stitchin'!

  4. I love playing card themed designs and this is a great one. I suppose Ace of Spades reminds me of Motörhead which is why I like this one!

    1. I hadn't thought of Motorhead! I agree, it does remind me of that as well :D I'd like to get more done on it, but cannot until my catch up is done AND I work on this while watching the original Star Trek ha ha!
