October TUSAL!

I haven't seen my ORT jar this full in quite some time and gosh it is WONDERFUL!  It means things are getting done!  There are threads from Skeleton Crew, Queen Been, some threads from a current attempt at making a basket and some yarn I'm using to make a hat for a pumpkin for the pumpkin contest at work.

I love seeing it full! Usually I empty it after I do my ORT Report, but since I don't remember where I packed my bags that have the ORT droppings, it will stay like this until I find them.

I suspect that when it's overflowing I will be forced to figure out which tote the ORT stuff is in.  Those bags are getting full as well so it must be time to make some biscornu!

When I cannot see to do my Queen Bee cross stitch I've been playing around with trying to make a basket.  I cannot remember what it's called at the moment. but you rip fabric, wrap it around cotton rope and then "weave" it into shape.  I was shown how to do this years ago and want one for my beautiful table in the kitchen.

I was given the blue basket by Leah and am not sure who made it.  The blue basket is made with the one inch cotton rope and I'm using the 1/4 inch cotton rope.

I had purchased the cotton rope to try and stuff that into Leah's corking but even that wouldn't fit so my idea for that needs to change.

You can see that creepy pumpkin in there as well.  He's pretty scabby and has glass shards for teeth.  He grosses me out but I am trying to make a hat for him that hopefully will help his situation....or make it worse!

Here's hoping I have more going on by this weekend with the Queen Bee stitching!

Until next time.....creepy stitching!

  1. I had a friend that used to make rugs out of T-shirt scraps that looked like that basket. She got several from me, now I'm thinking I should try that myself, stop me now, no new hobbies needed. Creepy pumpkin looks marvelous need to see his hat though.

    1. I'm stopping you from making a basket....and here is why: it IS time consuming. Finish Cindy THEN take some time to make a basket or a rug or whatever....but wait until this current BAP is finished :D Hope that helped.

I undid the yarn I was making the hat out of as I was not satisfied with it. Going to try again with another yarn and see what happens :D

  3. Yay! lots of colourful ORTs!

I made on of those baskets before, I did it with the sewing machine using a large zigzag stitch which made it go quite quickly. I love the fabric you are using for this - it looks great when coiled!

    1. The blue basket is made just as you have described how you did it! I was wondering about that, but I'm doing mine by hand....which is why it will take some time :( I'm hoping to finish it up in the next two weeks so I can set it on the table until mid December :D

    2. :) I really need to go dig for it - it is a nice basket. Yes by hand will take a while but the sewn edges will be so much more neat as a result! Keep plugging away, you can do it :)
