September Turtle Trot

Even if I don't blog about Turtle Trot I do think about it often, and I love that I am participating...it DOES help me to stay kind of on track...it's so hard to stay on track when you are a BERSERKER STITCHER....sigh.

Out of my ten picks for this year, I have only truly worked on Bookmarks of the Month, Quaker Ornaments, and a bit more of Butterfly Forest and finished Day 1 of 12 Days and started Day 2.  Just as I feared, it might take me 12 years to finish 12 Days....and yes, that IS funny.

I'm hoping the bookmarks and the ornaments are finished this year and since we have a contest going on over at Stitching Pirates, I MIGHT be able to finish Butterfly Forest by the end of October....THAT will be a challenge for sure!

Usually right around now I start thinking about and planning my next year.  Not going to do that this time around.....at least I don't think I will...there are some things one cannot change about themselves and planning and then not following through completely seem to be an ongoing theme here ha ha!

Too many pretty things!!  TOO MANY!!  I might make October or November that one month that I work on EVERYTHING on my Turtle Trot list...now there's a good idea!

Until next time.....Keep on Stitchin'!

  1. You seem to work happier with a planless plan, and since no one is timing you, that is the way it should be.

  2. I think the issue is too many planned projects leaving no time for other stuff - and you always collect more projects as the year goes by. Perhaps if you make plans for just 3 projects for next year and then you will have time for all 3 and more :)

    1. Or listen to Nancy and not make plans at all hahahahaha! I like three, but I have more than three WIPS at present :( POOP!

  3. I agree with Magical and Nancy here - creativity is about freedom, and you can't have freedom and plan for each day of the month at the same time! Maybe just pick a project or two you want to make serious progress on, and just work on whatever strikes your fancy otherwise ^_^ I think I might very well do the same next year, I usually do like plans but for stitching they hardly ever seem to work out...

    1. Nancy and Magical and Krystal put us to shame don't they? Ashley seems to go with the flow and is never bothered by so many deadlines...you all may be right...I should just go with MY flow instead of trying to change the way that comes natural to me.

  4. I agree with you, I don't think I will be planning next year's projects either. I did that last year and started 3 projects on January 1st and it was too much.

    1. Yep, In January I had high hopes and now it's September and hope is still there but reality keeps knocking and saying "seriously?? You ARE insane!"
      hahahaha

  5. I like your idea of picking one month and stitching on everything in your Turtle Trot list. I don't find stitching plans limiting. I like having stitching goals but I also don't mind changing them if I life gets in the way or other more interesting or urgent stitching projects crop up. I like to see what I thought I was going to do and compare it to what I actually accomplished. At the end of the day the freedom comes from pursuing our stitching anyway that feels good to us.

    1. You have a much more relaxed way of stitching things and you seem to do really really well with your style! I personally don't like to be forced to do anything creative and I'll bet that by setting myself up with a "plan" is what is actually hindering me ha ha. all of these little epiphanies and now I need a nap he he
