April TUSAL

It's weird but I don't feel like I've done very much stitching but according to the ORT Jar, I have.

Some of that white mass is the shredded fabric from the April Ornament of the Month, but the rest is floss.

Speaking of floss, I have floss on bobbins that are 26 or 27 years old.  As you know, back then DMC used to dye their flosses with a different chemistry.  After so long being in a floss box, the colors have faded so when you unwind it you almost have a variegated floss as the part of the floss that is on the ends of the card is the part that lightened to the point of almost being white.  Let's not forget that a new skein is so much prettier than the old skein so there are some chunks of floss that were discarded while working on the Flower Bookmarks of the Month.

I do have a little jar for my travel ORT jar for the lunch time stitching that I do.  Usually I empty my jar after every TUSAL report, but the little one I'm going to leave it until my current Quaker Ornament is done.

And there you have it! ORT Report for April!

  3. I didn't know that about DMC. Makes me glad that I didn't bobbinate my older threads. I started collecting in 1993 and my older skeins are still in perfect condition. I use the flossaway bags which must protect them.

    1. All you really need to do is check that the shade is the same with the new ones, my floss boxes have traveled across the US from west to east and from south to here is Alaska...I'm surprised they are still in such great condition at all!

  4. Wow, that fact about DMC is kinda scary - what will happend to the floss that is stitched into lovels designs already? Maybe it's a good thing I got into stashing just lately :)

    1. I'm thinking that since my floss has traveled far and wide, that has something to do with the degradation, but thankfully, I think the chemistry was changed so long ago that not many still have that older floss :D

  5. This is, what I feel, a very silly question I have. What's an ORT jar? I've been wanting to ask, but I always thought I'd look it up. Then I forget and I don't so now I'm just asking.

    1. It's not a silly question! The answer is silly...really...it's very silly! ORT stands for Old Ratty Threads :D That is why we have the TUSAL (Totally useless stitch along). You can join any time, just find the button on my right sidebar if you are interested. It's a fun thing to break up the monotony or agony of reporting projects :D
