Turtle Trot and ToT...triple threat?

Okay, like I said in January, 2015 is the year for T.

For Turtle Trot update in February, hmmm...January 11th saw some action on Cead Mile Failte, Butterfly Forest and COSMOS.  That was it for those as I really wanted some kind of start for them so only put about 100 or less stitches into all of them.

I did finish Day 1 and the January Bookmark so there is some progress there.

Day 2 is progressing nicely.

I'm still finding the 1 over 1 stitches strangely addictive and think about it while I'm at work.

I have been using a size 5 embroidery needle which has really cleaned up the end result to my satisfaction.

For Day 2 I'm actually following what TW is telling me to do and miracle of miracles it really works!

That's right, when it says "cross stitch entire piece first"  there is a reason for that.

Not like Day 1 where I stitched the outer borders and then back stitched and then stitched the holly leaves (badly) and then beaded, and then stitched the lettering and back stitched that and then stitched the inner golden ring colors in reverse and then botched the counting when I started stitching pear tree leaves.....

Who would have thought an experienced stitcher could FAIL so wildly?  Day 1 still came out beautifully...but those of you who have stitched it KNOW.....I hang my head in shame

That is about it for the Turtle Trot...just kind of scooting along.  Tons of Tiny has seen some action as Day 1 was finished, January Ornament was finished and now February Ornament has been finished! I have more plans for more tiny things but for now I'm just going to be so very excited about the February Ornament.

Again, this is super tiny, but after figuring out how I wanted my ornaments to be in January, every month after will be quick to stitch and put together!

This took 5 hours from start to finish.  Yes, I was yakking with the girls, yes I was interrupted by Lady Door (she is practicing her Lioness Roaring for some reason) but I did it.

If you are interested in getting in on these gorgeous little monthly ornaments, just head on over to the NCCIH and have a read.

Until next time!

    1. Well, Skeleton Crew has quite a bit of ripping that has to happen so I'm putting that on the back burner for now and just having fun with the little thingies :D I know that day will come when I will have to deal with it...but for now I remain in blissful denial!

  6. Congrats on the great progress, and Day 2 looks beautiful. I've learned that valuable lesson of doing all the xstich first as well. ;)

  8. Wonderful progress on the TW. I used a beading needle #10 when I worked the over 1 bits.

    1. Jan, if I had known using a different needle made so much difference I would have done that before hahaha! I'm surprised Day 1 came as nicely as it did with all the nonsense that went on with it. When I picked up the John James embroidery needle pack, I was just thinking "why not try this?" And LO! What a wonderful idea! Definitely would have tried the #10 you use, but sadly you weren't with me during my time of struggle <3

  11. I have the 12 Days charts and would love to stitch them over one. I'm also a big fan. I use a size 28 petite needle for everything (gold ones) and find they are perfect, even for beading, most beads will fit over the eye of a 28.
