Turtle Trot for January

It's been a busy day here at the ol' NCC.  Spent the morning finishing up with putting my fabrics on scroll frames of appropriate sizes and making sure everything was organized so that the plodding pace of stitching on my selected 10 could happen without too much chaos.

The only thing that did not get put on a frame today was Celestial Dragon.  It seems I need to purchase another set of 30" bars and some Velcro. Hurrah, those bars will not be part of the SFS monthly spending so that is a plus.

I am hoping to get some stitches into the COSMOS and Butterfly Forest tomorrow so that they are officially WIPs beginning tomorrow.

I might even get a few stitches in on Cead Mile Failte even if it isn't on my list, but I'm dying to see how the floss will look on that sparkly beautiful blue...some things CANNOT be denied.  Care to see what's on my list of 10, please see Turtle Trot 2015.

I did finish the January bookmark for the bookmarks of the month which was lovely (1 down 11 to go), but when I picked up Day 1 of TW's 12 Days, I found that ripping had to happen. So I did that and then put it away and went back to working on Skeleton Crew.

As of now, things are moving slowly on my list of 10, but it is the way of the turtle is it not?  I have touched every project, even it was moved from over there to over here and then put with the rest.

Happy trotting, or trudging, or plodding....until next time!

  1. Congratulations on the bookmark finish! Turtle progress is progress all the same, that's why this is the Turtle Trot instead of the rocket run!

    1. thank you! And I for one am grateful it's Turtle Trot and not rocket run ha ha! I may be a Berserker Stitcher, but there are times when my speed runs at less than zero :D

    1. It took hours and hours of thought, then a couple more hours to get them set up properly, but soooo worth it!

I hope this doesn't come off funny, but I'm rubbing you furiously to get some on you!

    1. Thank you! I wanted to be able to pick up anything and work on it if I felt the need to do so AND I wanted access to my projects without having to root around the nerdy expando file :D

    1. Thank you! The fabric for Butterfly Forest was something I had ordered on a whim because I wanted to see what it really looked like. Thank goodness I did! It's quite lovely :D

  5. Wow that is a lot of scroll frames. Lately I've been thinking I need to get more scroll bars. It's annoying working on q-snaps when I want to use scroll frames, but find it's already being used by another project.

    1. You will laugh, but one set of scroll frames is from the thrift store where I bought them in an unopened package for $3, the 12" set was given to me brand new, yet another set which had 18" and 12" bars in it for $5 at another thrift store, so technically there is only one set of scroll frames I had purchased full price for $20 about 25 years ago! And yet, I still "need" a couple more sets ha ha!

  6. Yay for the bookmarks and boo for the ripping (but oh well - it happens).
I can't wait to see Skeleton Crew. It's in my stash, and relatively high on the "want to stitch" list, but I've never gotten around to picking out a fabric for it.

    1. Ripping was alright in this case as I really didn't want to stitch that project at that time and that was the excuse I used to just rip and no stitch ha ha!

When you get round to stitching Skeleton Crew, if I may suggest TWIXT AND TWEEN from Silkweavers, as you can see by the fabric I'm using, its AMAZING. This is my "current" project so it will get finished and I'll be putting together the progression video as well so you can watch it take shape via video. I'm confident you will then want to stitch it right away ha ha!

    1. Darn right!! But I had to do it...what with the Turtle Trot, some WIPs I'm not fond of (those darned fancy petite bookmarks for example) but this way I can just grab and stitch what ever I wish and not feel so stressed out about "what did I forget?" Now that your desk is set up you could do this too and that way you could grab whatever you felt like working that day...like PT, or CtC, or Lady.....When I catch you in our chat I need to tell you about this dream I had about DMC floss...

  8. I'm envious of your organizational skills, that looks so much neater than my stitching area.

    1. Some would say a messy space is creativity at work! This organized thing I did was to relieve stress and show myself there wasn't as much as I thought AND I can stitch whichever one I feel like without digging and digging and digging like I normally do!

  10. So organized, I'm envious. I still think scroll frames are not the way to go for me, but then I see your fabric on them and want to give in.

    1. Well, I have used the scroll frames for so very long, but I have to say that using the blue hoops is better and lighter and you don't have to struggle with a bulky frame that the threads catch on...I can give you a list of reasons to NOT do scroll frame, but it seems I'm still biased and don't want to give them up :d
