After IHSW for April

Had to work today...but spent most of the day thinking about my really great weekend!  IHSW is awesome, and what makes it even more awesome is getting my girls together to chat and stitch via Google+ Hangout.  We had the special gift of listening to Krystal's husband explain to someone he was yakking to on the phone about how we "skype" and "watch each other stitch".  Put it like that and it sounds dumb, but I'll tell you if we all lived closer together instead of all over the world we would be at one house or the other doing the same thing!!  Besides, there's something really funny about looking up from your stitching and seeing the tops of everyone's head while they stitch!  I really love my girls.

Saturday I woke up thinking I would stitch Vinnie Stretch and what a great idea THAT was!!  As I stitch up Vinnie I keep thinking I'd stitch him again anytime.  More than likely I will, ha, ha! What a great project for IHSW.

I used Sulky Holoshimmer for the inside and outside border, regular backstich on the knotwork and Sulky Holoshimmer on the flames.  The blended colors are beautiful.

Krystal managed to get in on it while driving from Oklahoma to Texas and what a treat that was!!  Once again that girl had a finish while we all struggled along with out projects (TW loves quarter stitches and blended threads and so we stitched onward.....)

I finally share with Nancy (after much torture) what my Puppy Love Spring Contest entry was.  It's called Flowers for You by Margaret Sherry in the World of Cross Stitching Issue 188 page 10.  It's so CUTE!!

Instead of doing French Knots, I've chosen shiny beads.  They look lovely!

After we were all done chatting away online, I went and washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen and a thought struck me....I really wanted to color Easter Eggs.  I put those on to boil while I finished the dishes.

Over the years I would pick up different PAAS packets for dying eggs.  I had picked up one called Candy and two called Shiny.  You literally paint on the Candy paint.  The one called Shiny are sheets of shiny metallic colors that you apply with glue, or in my case, not quite dry Candy paint.

The finished eggs were brilliant!  My daughter even came into the kitchen at midnight and helped decorate.

This prompted my girl Leah to want to color some eggs similarly which is great because I was thinking about doing it again with empty egg shells. Great minds ha, ha.

And finally, this is as far as I've gotten on 12 Days of Christmas Day 1.  I know, I'm so close to being done with it but really wanted to stitch Vinnie Stretch.

We shall see what I want to stitch after I'm done with Stretch.  I would still like to get Day 1 - 4 done next, but as you and I both know...it probably won't happen, ha ha.  For now, this is it on Day 1:

For now, keep doing what you are doing and HAPPY STITCHING!

  1. Woah, I missed so much! Stupid time differencees. Vinnie is really startng to show now, and what a handsome little guy he is going to be! The egss are pretty as well, and I'm really excited about your puppy love project, still can't quite decide on my own.

I face the same 'problems' with 'wanting' to stich some projects and 'not wanting' to work on others at the moment, and I guess (unless there is ome timeline to keep or something) there really is no use in forcing oneself to a certain project. It's hobby after all, and it shouldn't become stress. Even if certain projects were never to be finished (which I stil lrefuse to believe!) it would still be time well spent doing something we love, right? :D

    1. Funny you should mention the time differences...we (Krystal, Nancy and I) were complaining about it after you and Magical were no longer with us because it's night time and you had Mass! While I was decorating the eggs I did step outside to listen to the bells of both the Orthodox church and the Catholic church which are across the street from me. I was able to say Happy Easter to those who were walking by and it really felt very festive :D

And wanting to stitch something....I think you are right...it IS a hobby and a joy to stitch and should NOT be stressful. It's my happy place and should remain that way, right? So if I wake up and feel like stitching something else I suppose I should go with it and not resist the urge even though my orderly mind wants a certain thing done now :D

    2. Exactly. Sometimes, just pulling through the hard parts can be a good thing, but most of the time, there's just no reason to - if it's a project we enjoy, we'll eventually get back to it, and if it's not, why do we stitch it in the first place? :D

    3. I really want to thank you for reminding me of that very thing, I do ask myself sometimes why I feel so stressed out about it when I shouldn't and it really comes down to my manic need to stitch as much as I can so I can move on to the next exciting thing....yes....that is CRAZY TALK, guilty as charged!! ha ha!!!

  2. Vinne is looking awesome. ^_^ I love the holoshimmer and seeing your progress just makes me want to start my own stretch. But I will resist! I have too many other projects to work on.

    1. I'm starting to wonder if you will continue to resist when I get even further along, tee hee. It really isn't difficult and the "beat" or "song" to this piece is very lively and musical which makes it very fun :D I understand you have commitments, but read Leonore's comment above and see how you feel about it all then :D

    2. Yeah I know. I just have deadlines for the 2 projects I need to work on. I also need to go through my floss and see what colors I have left to pick up for the project.

And seeing you work Vinnie on that shiny fabric is making me rethink my plan for my 'Stretch', I still haven't named him/her yet. I don't know....I guess I'll have to wait to figure all that out when I'm done moving since I don't want to dig through my box of cross-stitching stuff again just to look.

    3. After the move, just relax and wait. Right now you have a baby announcement as your priority and Stretch will wait :D

  3. I had put poor Stretch on the backburner while other projects yelled at me, but seeing after seeing your Vinnie now Norbert is the one yelling,
I said it before somewhere, those eggs are amazing, we didn't even decorate any this year. course that's because Mom and I cheated and painted wooden ones several years ago. ---- Must do some painting this year.

    1. Norbert....he's calling you....you know he's not like other dragons...so says Hagrid. It won't hurt you to have a smallish project like this lurking somwhere....really it won't!! One thing though, make sure you have the fabric you want to stitch it on first. I love the Conifer that I'm using but I can't stop thinking about how those colors and Holoshimmer would just POP on something like Crystal Mystic from PTP. I just happen to have some..................

    2. I picked up some grey linen in a stores scrap bin that was the perfect shade and size, so the fabric I've got if I just want Norbert, it's not big enough if I do the pillow idea though. And I have a bunny that's yelling at me loudly as well, need to find her name soon. And I spent all day on Cindy and all night on Tractor baby, so it's be a great day for me.
