March 1st TUSAL and stuff

TUSAL on the first day and last day of the month of March!  This is where I'm at today.  I'm emptying my ORT Jar today, putting it into a gallon zip lock to save up for the biscornus I have to make in the near future.

I've still been playing around with glass cutting on other jars I have and for some reason keep causing serious cracks, so that process is still a work in progress and my grand plan for gift giving is being delayed...as per usual.  Wonder if I'll ever be on time for anything?

My plan for this weekend is to hopefully complete SKULL and create the progression video, but as we all know, this may or may not happen but I am hopeful I'll be close!

This morning I went through the promised items to be sent to my girls and included other things like fabric I had quite a bit of, extra little patterns and have a few fun ideas for non-stitch related items.  My next trip to the post office will be epic!

Destinations will be Canada, 2 to Texas, Minnesota, Arizona,  Nederlands, Brazil, Kamchatka, Germany, England, Ireland and Bahrain.  Worldwide mailing is so incredibly fun!

It's been awhile since I've written about the audio books I listen to while I stitch, but I have to tell you the audio version of World War Z is probably the best audio book I've listened to in a very long time due to the cast who portrayed the different characters throughout the story.  I highly recommend it.  Another awesome book is Dr. Sleep which is a continuation of The Shining.  I read The Shining when it was first published and agree with SK that the movie didn't cover some key points, even though I do love that movie, and listening to Dr. Sleep, there is a part in there where Danny is wondering what his father was thinking while he was sitting in the office where he had his interview for the job at the hotel.  I had my headphones on and SHOUT out "ALL MY MEN WEAR ENGLISH LEATHER OR THEY WEAR NOTHING AT ALL!!!" Mad cackling ensued and I might have scared my neighbors, but how nerdy to remember that line from a book I haven't read in forever while listening to the sequel!

Anyhose.....listening to books while stitching gets quite a bit done and if you have a public library that supports Overdrive, I recommend it.  It's free, there are tons of choices and what  a great way to "read" all the books you have wanted to for so long and stitch at the same time.

Today it is Dean Koontz The Darkest Evening of the Year.  I think after this is a book about Pirates, a period piece story and then I'll have to check out more audio books or listen to something I have on my Audio books app.

Okay, off to stitch.....have a beautiful day!

  1. I've read the Shining, never saw the movie.
I'm highly curious what wonderful contents will end up in the mail, and I can't wait to see the finished Skull

    1. If you have read The Shining you should read Dr. Sleep...it's pretty fun stuff. And the contents of your box is now officially secret, except I have told you before about two of the items that shouldn't surprise you, but the rest will :D

Poo on you for watching curling!!! I wonder if I can find a Canadian website that shows live stuff ? I'm going to look now.

    2. I read the Shining when I was 14 with was mbmbmbmbmm years ago, had a friend that was massively into King and he got me to read it whether I wanted to or not. My favorite of what I read was It, haven't read much King since I graduated.

    3. IT, interesting...that was one King book I really did not like! IT confused me because I really did not like it, does that makes sense or are you reading yet another excerpt from IT? hahahah

    4. Now you are trying to confuse me. I was never a huge fan of the horror genre but my friend insisted, and something about It captured me. That and a short story from Night Shift that I never remember the name of. but involved little army men toys and a global thermal nuclear bomb.

    5. Battleground? I think that's the one you mean, the guy the toys are delivered to killed someone and the revenge are these possessed vietnam era GI Joes?

  2. Shipping stuff around is fun, if only it wasn't that expensive...as for your book recommendations, I don't know, they all sound a little too...dark for my taste ^^"

I hope your plan with the skull works out. From what I saw last it looked pretty much doable, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress after the weekend (mine is already over, time to go and pack my bag, sobsob)

    1. Actually, I like ALL books and listen to everything that sounds interesting. Authors like King and Koontz I've read so much that their humor is the main reason I listen to them. Don't worry, I'll keep you updated on the audio books and you will see the wondrous variety!

You are always so busy it's a wonder you have time to stitching at all!!!

    2. I actually get that a lot...I suppose I'm just good at managing my time? Always busy like a bee, no idle sitting around allowed :D

    3. Exactly! This is why I love audio books! Two birds type thing :D

  3. I'm not a huge fan of King. I've seen a few movies but scary/suspense books & movies aren't my cup of tea normally. I'm more of a fantasy/historical & paranormal romance kind of gal.

And man you have a lot of packages going out! Can't wait to see what I get...well....aside from what I already know I'm getting ;)

    1. Well that is where the rest will be a huge surprise :D Magical had me listening to a fantasy series of five books and I finished those last year, but there is another set of five for the "sequel". I can't remember the author or the name of the series right now but when I do I'm pretty sure you might have read them already, if not I loved them and think you should listen or read them as well :D

    2. When you remember them just let me know. ^_^ Even if I have ready them before I almost always re-read books if I like them.
