Final D.E.S.I.G.N.

I have not posted anything for D.E.S.I.G.N. for months because I didn't have much to say during that time, but now I do have one final one for this year which I am very pleased to have!

1:  What project are you talking about this month?

It's actually two projects by designer Nora Corbett.  For Christmas this year I received two fully kitted out patterns!

The fact that I was given these gifts of cross stitch by my family is shocking, but the most stunning was that it was Nora Corbett patterns!

To make it even BETTER, they are both Halloween!  Luna and Electra! I cried when I opened these up, and cried again when the reality of it all finally sunk in...my family gave me cross stitch, Halloween and NORA CORBETT!

I have never stitched, and up until now have not owned, one of Nora's patterns, but I see them all of the time and cannot figure out why not.

2:  Would you buy/stitch a design by this designer again?  Why/why not?

Oh yes, I have had every single one of Nora's fairy patterns in my wish list at times.  There are so many it really was difficult to choose.  Now that the choice has been made for me I have TWO luscious patterns ready!

3:  What made you choose this particular design/designer?

Who does NOT like fairies?  I know a few stitchers who stitch these patterns exclusively!  They are so beautiful!  When I was putting every one of her patterns in my wish list, my first reason would be because it is a "collection" which appeals to me.  I had to be realistic and ask myself if I would have time to stitch every single one of them and would then argue my way out of getting any!

To actually answer the question, however, I'd have to say the simplicity and elegance of the design itself drew me to her.  I have yet to see one of her finished stitched pieces look anything less than elegant.

4:  Did you notice anything that distinguished this artist from others?

Actually yes.  Nora Corbett does not have seriously complicated patterns or a million miles of backstitching.  She does add specialty threads like Kreniek and beads....loads of beads...which add some glamour to each piece.  I have been seriously wowed by finished pieces from other stitchers over the years!  Different fabrics and styles of stitching really never took away from the finished piece.

Now that I have a "starting point" with the vast list of Nora Corbett, this may be a precursor of picking up more until I have as many of these as I do my beloved TW!  It will be hard not to hoard Nora Corbett patterns and that may be the biggest reason I didn't start on my wish list....but now I have a start...OH BOY!

I have admired other's finished pieces and now have two of my own!  It will be difficult to NOT start one of these right away...but there are WIPs that need tending to.

Until next time.....Keep on Stitchin'

  2. Your family did well. I also don't have any Nora Corbett, but I'm sure she's on a wishlist somewhere, can't wait to see you start them.

  4. I didn't much care for Nora's patterns at first, I think the lack of faces never did it for me...but the more I ook at them, the more I fall in love with some, and that Halloween fairies are *really* great. The high cost of kitting them up is keeping me from stash hoarding yet which is good, but eventually I WILL get and stitch one :D

    1. Never fear my love, I will just send them too you once I'm done so the ONLY decision you will have to make is what fabric to use :D I want to stitch all of my Halloween patterns in 2016, but fear that might be biting off more than I can chew...we shall see!

  5. Congratulations on popping your Nora cherry LOL
You will love stitching these two. I don't have any of the Hallowe'en fairies simply because I have so many of the others I haven't stitched and I've been Stitching From Stash for two years.
I am doing four of her letters this year though.
