Every year I do one of these posts about all the things I plan on doing but usually there are 34 blog posts prior to it with all the grande schemes and plans and ideas....not this time! Surprise!
It seems I am not alone with the not blogging....it is painfully apparent when I look at recent blog posts by almost everyone I have on my reading list, that everyone has slowed or wandered off. Is this what it will look like after the alien insurrection? No blog posts for weeks, then months...and then...??
This strange and awkward relationship I have with my NCC continues. I come in here and don't know what to do. Knit? Crochet? Cross Stitch? What do I really feel like doing? Usually the answer is sleeping. I have been very tired lately, but I blame winter hibernation for that. Combine that feeling with the bizarro world of work and we have a recipe that has an end result of sleep. It kind of feels like I waiting for something.
Well, here it is December 20th and I have biscornu to make for the exchange over at Stitching Pirates, AND the patterns I'm using are Teresa Wentzler's Tracery Ornaments. If anyone can distract me from that strange waiting feeling it would be TW.
There is a job interview for me on Tuesday for a higher range position. This would be interesting if I knew who I was up against but the office has been very quiet about my competition. Funny how you don't apply for a job and you know every name and can deduce from that information who would potentially have it. I have yet to be wrong when I make my decision. The other factor to consider is even though the two people performing the interviewing have been my supervisors in the past, this is still a REAL interview and everything must be done by the book. My hands are sweating at the prospect. I'm not sure which is more difficult; interviewing with people who know you are awesome or interviewing with people who don't know? It seems there might be a higher expectation during the interview with people you know.
Nancy also reminded me again to watch Critical Role. I started at episode 1 and watched all the way to current, and finally had my first live feed watch two weeks ago. It truly is GREAT! I used to play D & D years ago and found myself digging out my dice and rolling right along with the players, looking up the monsters being fought or the creatures they were "befriending" (like seriously? they really thought they could trust an Ilithid?). Now I really want to play again! I'm ready to roll for initiative...
All of this going on and it seems I have become a recluse to the point of no blogging, no posting comments in groups, no updating Stitching Pirates like I should...it's shameful. Like I said, I'm not the only one and I hope the malaise that has befallen stitchers around the world will come out of it soon and take up their needles and keyboards and get crackin' once again. PULL YOUR SOCKS UP MY PEOPLE!
I leave you today with a pretty picture of my current project in the hopes that it inspires you to make some you time even for 30 minutes during this busy time of year.
Until my next post, which should be all about ending the year and starting anew...KEEP ON STITCHIN'!
