The New Nerd Central Command

Nerd Central Command, or NCC, can be anywhere you want it to be and I had a pretty sweet set up in my old home and many agreed it was pretty sweet.

I miss the set-up but it is time for change!

When the time finally came to move into my house I had thought to put the new NCC in the second attic room, nice and cozy, next to my bedroom.  Not sure how it happened but I was talking into putting my NCC in the room that Leah used to use as her sewing room so when the movers moved everything in, that's where it went....that room that is attached to the kitchen.

You know what's weird?  I loved the window next to my desk but honestly did not love anything else about that room.  I tried being in there every day for two weeks and seriously couldn't hack it.  The space is rectangular and no matter where you sit in there, you feel like the walls are squishing you.  Did not care for that feeling at all.

At work on Thursday I had a thought that morning that I SHOULD move my NCC up to the attic room where I wanted it in the first place.  I thought about it ALL DAY LONG.  I'm surprised I got any work done.  Spoke to my daughter about helping me and on Saturday morning she had moved everything upstairs for me with the help of our housemate Michael who awesomely handled the way too heavy junk.  AND, he also purchased a wifi stick for my tower of power so there wouldn't be blue internet cord all over the place.  THAT is teamwork.....or was it that my people really wanted me up in the attic and quiet?  Hmmmm, there were things said such as "I know you'll be happier up there" and "I was always worried I was bugging you" and "Now you will be closer to your crafty things".....I'm sensing a more hidden meaning here, but in the end they and I were right...this is much better.

The current state of things, but you can clearly see what a cute space this is.  Added bonus is my half bath is here as well and I won't have to trek across the house to the nearest loo!

There are these DIY two drawer wooden dresser contraptions at the Fred Meyers that will fit perfectly along both walls which will get rid of boxes and totes and clean up my space, so the only real thing I need to worry about is what kind of desk set up do I want?

Yep, a much better space to play in!

The other half of my attic space.  It is funky and fun.

Now I need to get the mess cleaned up and get back to stitching!!

Until next time.....Happy Spaces!

    1. Yes ma'am! We are calling it the Boys/Guest room. I'm going to be working on that to get it set up and ready before Thanksgiving when the boys get here :D

  3. Glad you are in the space that makes you happy - just goes to show that your gut feeling was right after all - it's a lovely space and I'm quite envious in a way as it's so nice to have your own room for a NCC :)

    1. Thank you and yes I should have listened to myself in the first place :D If you are a little envious now, wait two weeks when I get everything put away and streamlined!! Hopefully it will give you ideas for your spaces OR you can give me more ideas since you are so very very creative!

    2. Hind sight is always 20/20 ;) I hope it will all be orgised soon for you - messyness is bad for creativity.

I miss you too! I thought there was no hangout last time as you were moving and also because I wasn't invited :( I probably should have poked you but well.. I thought this time was off due to the move and didn't want to nag :(

ok - I look forwards to it :D

Right now I'm chomping at the bit to show what I've been working on and finished and can't due to secret projects :( I now remember why I prefer to make stuff for me lol.

  4. I'm glad you are happier. I just hope that when we move to Colorado I can get my own NCC setup. A few of the houses I found have finished basements with extra rooms and one or two have loft bedrooms that could potentially be an NCC. It will all depend on the house I guess. ^_^

    1. Every house can have a NCC - it's just not always a dedicated room. Commandeer a corner if you can't have a room and make it yours!

    2. Colorado has some fun house layouts so I'm pretty confident you will have your Colorado Branch soon enough. the best part is you all will be there for at least three years and "organizing" will be super fun!
