The move is OVER...

Yes, everything fell into place so perfectly for the move!  Saturday afternoon I called the landlady and left the keys after putting one last dab of wax on the kitchen floor, shut the door and felt a sense of loss but excitement at new beginnings.

The movers were exceptionally kind, hard working and well worth the tip they each received when it was finished.  I'm quite certain now that they don't normally get tipped like that, but I ask you this:  If you volunteered your precious time on a Saturday away from your family to work and then went all out and did the best job you could do...wouldn't that warrant a nice bit of recompense?

My family gushed praise upon them, but their exhaustion dripping from their hanging heads told a story of fatigue and inability to truly see how serious we were about what they had done for us.  Then there was the tip.  Sweat still dripping, butts dragging, but eyes lit up like a child's at Christmas.  It was a sight to see.  Kind of wish we had thought to have cheese cake made for them or a nice pie....but I believe they are both pretty happy with their Saturday.  If you are here in Juneau and reading this, it's AAA Moving and when you call, ask for Chris the dispatcher as he makes the arrangements. Wayne and Dillon, and now C.J., are my favorite moving guys.

Curious about the haus?  Well you will have to wait!  We aren't done unpacking yet, but once things are finally organized I will certainly make a video for all to enjoy :D

So while I was busy packing and staging and moving and unpacking...September 9th WIPocalypse question which is: Who is your favourite person to stitch for, or do you prefer to keep your stitching yourself?

This is a tough one.  I've thought about this question since Leonore posted her blog with that question.  She is a gift giver, as are Nancy and Krystal.  It seems all three of them are constantly making something for someone.  I suppose my answer would be that I am more of a berserker stitcher as I see patterns I want to stitch, so I stitch them and put them in a "finished binder" or frame them or if someone says "OMG I must have that" or like last year when Carrie stated very clearly "I WANT THOSE", they end up being for that person, but usually, it's purely for enjoyment and because I can.  If I had the special abilities needed, I would stitch EVERYTHING.  But I don't, and know that might be impossible unless I were immortal....then maybe.  Of course this brings up the question on how does one become immortal and in that there is wild speculation and apparent downsides to every idea expressed, but I digress.

I don't even know if Berserker Stitcher is a phrase, but now that I have written it, I make it an official title...it best describes me and my stitching habits and best answers the question for this month.

I have more to share, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.  For now, count, stitch, cross and make something pretty!

  1. I'm glad your move went smoothly, and can't wait to see what you will do with the place! I also like the term Berserker Stitcher, I might end up like that eventually but right know I'm good at making excuses with 'Oh, I MUST stitch that because it would be PERFECT for xy!' :D

    1. I love that about you and Krystal and Nancy. Krystal always says she's horrible with due dates, but she still gets it done and honestly I don't know how you and the girls do it! I cannot wait to see your new home when you and Felix move it and I really hope that couch you like fits through the doorway :D

    4. Yup, with the attic landing as my stash and materials storage and the main attic storage as my UFO hiding place. I really ought to photograph it all one day just so you can see my set up :)

    6. It's not so organised.. usually in a state of "lets move this to one side so I can get ot XYZ and then rush back downstairs to use it" done at least 20 times in a row to produce a special kind of chaos lol
