Back to Nature and July IHSW

This was the first IHSW that I have missed since I first found IHSW (thanks to Magical) and it was well worth it, but I still missed it just the same.  One thing I did do was more knitting on the Dr. Who Shada Scarf.

I have 13 sections left to knit and it will be complete.  Can't wait to write that blog!

What have I been up to?  What was so damn important that I couldn't be here with my stitchy friends?  Well, I'll tell you!

My oldest son came for a visit and will be leaving tomorrow night.  We have been hiking and taking pictures and talking and talking and talking.  I have to say that I am one of the more fortunate parents in the world who have children who LIKE to talk to their ma, and the subjects are wonderfully diverse.

I have to admit that my favorite part of his visit (as is my favorite part when my second son is here as well) is hearing my children giggling in the other room as they play a game or just while talking.  That never gets old. We were able to Skype with my second son who is currently stationed overseas, so all three of them giggled and gave me a thrill.  Oh how I love them!  Second son is insisting he will be home for Thanksgiving and that First son should be here as well...I couldn't agree more.  To have all three in the same place at the same time would be a wonderful gift that I would treasure, but it would be a gift they would give each other as they would be spending time together (which hasn't happened since 2004).  They are adults and have their own lives, but I still want them here with me (empty nest syndrome, ha, ha).

So here are a few shots of what we have been up to, please enjoy!

Emily and Matthew on the "island" at Auke Rec

Emily discussing tide pools
Thane Trail being goofy
There are tons more pictures (naturally) but these few should be enough for you to see how wonderful they are.

My next adventure will be taking my son to the airport so he can go back home to Anchorage for work and I will cry like I always do...Thank the God Hermes for red wine!!!!

Here's hoping I can get him out to Perseverance Trail today while it's sunny :D

Until next time...love your family as hard as you can and Happy Stitching!!!

  3. The scarf looks great, but of course you had to spend time with your kids. People (especially family) before things, always.
