Oh Dear! What did I buy now??

You can laugh all you want, but this year I am planning ahead for Halloween just a tad.  It's not time for SFS yet either, but I really love what I chose today that I had to share.  It was kind of a gift I gave myself for being so good AND for not having a complete meltdown over the impending layoff.

Purchased from Silkweaver, it will be the Silkweaver Reflections Aida - 18 in x 26 in, Twixt & Tween, 16 ct Opal Aida.  I had considered going with the Lugana but then thought I'd like to do something on an Aida this time around.

Can you guess what this delicious fabric is for?  I should just leave you hanging, but I won't!  I was thinking about how good I have been and really wanted to figure out this year's Halloween Project early.

I haven't been to the Silkweaver website in FOREVERRRRRRR, so I thought it was their turn this time.  Scrolling through the Reflections fabric (oh so sparkly trust me on this) I went back and forth between my Wish List on 123Stitch and the fabrics.  Then I figured it would be easier to decide which fabric if I picked a pattern.  I am a Stitching Pirate so I chose Skeleton Crew.

I like the pattern by Cross Eyed Cricket, but felt that if I went with the fabric the original was done on, it would make for a very boring third to my current set of fun Halloween stuff.  I'm excited to see how this fabric really looks because every batch of fabric and picture are different, but I haven't been disappointed yet.  This also gives me plenty of time to pick a different fabric if I don't like this one for this project.  I'm still thinking about a nice moody color like the Boo! or Buttered Rum or Misty Morning, or Murky Waters, or, Raging Storm, Sapphire Mist, Silver Mist, Snow Storm (silver or regular) and Sudden Storm.  Now that I think about it, I might have to pick one of those just to make sure one of those wasn't really what I wanted after all........or I can be patient (riiiiiiiiiiiiiight har har) and see what the fabric really looks like.  I think I will wait.  It will be fun. (More like agonizing but we are trying to be just a little thrifty here)

To help YOU see why this excites me; There are three kinds of sparkly you can get with the fabric.  There is Opal, Gold Metallic and  Silver Metallic.  Depending on the fabric you can pick one of the three.  A lovely example is some of their fabric in Opal
It's very dainty which I like.  The fabric from Picture This Plus has a larger sparkle thread running through the weave which is great if you seriously want that sparkle to POP.  This is just one of those great reasons to shop around.  Each place has something that could be just right.  I love all my fabric stores!

I also found a blogger who has done this very pattern using PTP Gothic fabric....Paws n Stiches is her blog but she hasn't been on that blog since 2009?  I started mine in 2009 and didn't really get into it until two years ago or so.

So there it is on a different fabric.  I love it.  I'm getting excited about it now.  Wonder if I'll want to stitch it right away or can I wait until September?
I suppose we shall see!!

Now I'm off to see which project I really want to work on...Day 1, Stretch or the Secret project?

Guess we shall see!!

Until next time...happy trying not to spend money at the two sites listed above MUAHAHAHAHA!

    1. I LOVE Halloween so I've been trying to do something new every year. Table clothes, now wall hangings. I'm looking for something fun for Thanksgiving because I've never done anything more than a two table clothes. For some reason the Halloween projects are quick and easy as well if that helps to inspire you just a tad :D

  2. I LOVE IT, both the fabric and the pattern, and the pretty finished one as well actually, you'll be glad to know that it's only the middle of the month and I'm getting close to my budget limit, more details, probably in a week for the SFS blog. And I'm off Saturday, so I can hangout earlier than usual, might have to take a break to make a pie, but life happens.
I looked again, I love that fabric

    1. OH!!! What kind of fabric are you going to stitch it on? I love that you plan for Halloween all year round. It's hilarious that when I look at new patterns I tend to start looking at those first and foremost :D After that it's dragons and butterflies ha ha!
