New WIPS

Last night, after I had finished THEY, I wasn't quite done listening to Stephen King's Cell,
so I pulled out the 12 Days of Christmas, put everything in order, AND in nerdy page protectors, and started working on Day 1.  The elation I felt after finishing two projects was just the fuel I needed to start Day 1 and help me finish listening to the audio book.

I have to say that normally I thoroughly enjoy King's writing, but this one had some windy description parts that were either read badly or written badly.  No matter, the end ENDED and left me hanging.  Not usual for him who likes to have some sort of closure.....just stopped.  It thrilled me to no end and there is no sarcasm here when I say that.  King has a habit of creating some complicated endings at times, but there was absolutely NO complication or ambiguity to this one.  It just stopped.  I LOVED IT! Thank goodness I own it, I will definitely listen to this over and over. Well worth my one credit for the month.

Needless to say I was able to get the over two outside border for Day 1 mostly done and have the excitement of this new project begin to build.  My goal is to do one day per month.  Since we are already at the end of March, I will do four days to start and that way April's will be complete and I can move on.

Day 1 started March 24, 2014

Not much to see so I won't bother with a huge shot in this blog.  You know what to do if you want a larger view.

Since I finished THEY yesterday, it was time to start something new at work today during lunch.  Instead of continuing with those petite bookmarks, I thought I'd go with the oldest kit first....Panda Delight by Dimensions .  I've had this for quite some time and it's TIME to get it stitched. Another gift, but this time for my beautiful daughter who has a Panda Bear collection.  There is an actual sized Panda that hogs her bed, and the sizes go all the way down to one inch tall panda's.  It is my understanding that she thinks they are "adorable".  I do not disagree and sometimes have the urge to fly over to China and go to one of the orphanages for Panda cubs just to hug some.  I am actually loving the project so far.  20 minutes of stitching has a nice little start and I cannot wait until lunch tomorrow to continue!

It took me quite awhile to get the floss separated into proper colors and that's when Krystal's voice came into my head about having cardboard or something with holes punched in it to help separate and organize my colors.  I had found something awhile back for just this very thing!

It is the back cover to a pocket sketch book.  It has a very hard cardboard with a cork covering. For this project there are just enough holes for all the floss colors! Used my rotary cutter to make a perfect cut so I didn't have the ENTIRE back cover to tend with. I love it and will just go ahead and keep it in my Little Travel Case for future use. Total time spent on Panda Delight was more like 45 minutes, but actual stitch time was 20 minutes.

You probably AREN'T wondering what is up next on my audio books, but I shall tell you anyway....WUTHERING HEIGHTS by Emily Bronte.  I honestly don't remember if I've read this or not, and if I did it had to have been 35 years ago when I read the entire library at my middle school.  Pretty sure that's when it happened, but I'm going to stitch and enjoy it as a "seasoned" adult.  This audio book is narrated by Anne Flosnik and I cannot wait to start hearing her beautiful voice speaking Emily Bronte's words.

I do hope everyone's Monday is extra special and if you aren't stitching, try and get 10 stitches in before bed tonight!

Happy Stitching my Precious.....

  1. I can't remember if I've read Wuthering Heights, I think not. Jane Eyre and a bunch of Austen's but not Heights. You are going to make me start reading Steven King again.
The Panda looks adorable, and I love the enthusiasm created by the Travel Case. I think it's going to be a great week.

    1. I agree! that travel case was a brilliant idea. Emily Bronte is (to me anyway) a hard writer. Compare her to Jane Austin....the difference is huge!! Hope you get a chance to read Cell at some point, its the ending that will surprise you.

    2. I should start reading King again, but I've been in a sappy romance mood lately so reading a lot of Nora Roberts. Might have to think about getting a Library card, but the local library ticked me off about 20 years ago and I haven't been back. Apparently I hold a grudge.

    3. Hope I never go that route with you! I'm confident whatever ticked you off then is no longer part of the curriculum now, at least go and see then make a decision :D

  3. Hahahah glad I could help you out there. :) I'm tempted to go out a buy a portable DVD case now just so I have a travel case like that for small projects. Way easier than my tote bag. Love the new starts and I agree with your daughter Pandas are adorable, although I think Red Panda's are cuter cause they're small. ^_^

    1. If you are going to look at the DVD cases, also go to the fishing isle and the laptop isle, there are many to choose from that would be PERFECT for cross stitch. I just happen to have the case because I purchased it for my portable, which is now on my sewing table for watching DVD's :D

    3. Tee hee! Fortunately they are relatively inexpensive. I think mine might have cost $15.00 maybe? Just do some looking around in all the areas I mentioned since there are some really interesting carrying cases out there for various things and they really don't cost much at all :D
