Late Night Chat

Well, after I posted the TUSAL this morning, I looked around and decided I'd rather be disgusted by Heathcliff and his nonsense (I'm listening to Wuthering Heights on audio book) and stitch instead of doing anymore cleanup of the aftermath of Hurricane Carla.

It turned out to be a GREAT idea.  Then around 2:30 pm my friend Michael, my daughter and I went down to the Rookery and had a delicious late lunch, visited for awhile and then I came home and continued with the stitching.....and with being disgusted.  No wonder I don't remember reading this book 9 million years ago! The characters are spoiled and horrid, and WHY does everyone die?  In the end the good triumphed (in a bizarre way) but I'm still questioning why it would be okay for the daughter of Catherine to marry Catherine's brother's son?

Before I let you in on what's next in delicious audibles, first let me show you the stitching!  You will probably agree it is quite wonderful.  If not, poo on you!

Day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas
Isn't it lovely?  What's really great is I missed a stitch on two of the garlands, but you cannot really tell and frogging those tiny stitches is NOT fun, so I'm not doing it.  It looks marvelous as is and makes it more mine.

The back stitching for the over two borders went by so quickly I didn't realize I was done at first.  I had to pause the audio book (during one of Heathcliff's tirades about some angry idiocy) to look and make sure.  Then I began the back stitching on the letters.

Took a close up of that for you to check out, because if you are like me you want to SEE with your special eyes just how tiny stuff is.

You can see the tiny "berries" and the tiny stitching.  Would you believe that because of the fabric (Zweigart 28 ct White Cashel Linen) I don't have to switch to a smaller needle and can continue using my fat one?  The smaller needles make my hands crampy because I'm afraid I'm going to lose it since it is so tiny I can't always feel it between my fingers and squeeze extra tightly.

The colors are beautiful, I love gold. After the backstitch comes the Partridge in a pear tree which might be a little difficult because of the tiny stitching, but will probably turn out very pretty as well.

So what is next up on the Audible book list?  I'm so glad you asked!  Atonement by Ian McEwan, read by Jill Tanner.  I love the movie very much and cried so hard at the end....and for the next few days as I pondered the "atonement".  Ran out of Kleenex.  Hopefully this time, listening to the book, I won't be tempted to use my linen to wipe my tears!!!

I love Keira Knightley and James McAvoy in the movie, but most especially; Vanessa Redgrave.  Definitely a good one for "chick flick night" or if you are home alone and have a few hours to recover before anyone shows up...give it a watch.

For now, this is my next audible book and I hope to be well into Day 2 before it ends.

And now, I'm off to bed!  Happy Stitching my people!

    1. Once I figured out the song of this project it went very fast. I'm hopeful I can complete this one in the next few days and get Day 2 started. :D

  2. Omg!! Sooo tiny!! I think these would look cute as ornaments....which might be what I do with them but I'm not a very good at sewing so.....I don't know. I'm sure I could get my neighbor Peggy to help me again since she has a sewing machine and all that. One of these days I think I'm just going to have to take a sewing class at Hobby Lobby or something to learn. That means I'm going to have to purchase a sewing machine though so...that will probably not be for a while -_-

Anywhos, this is looking great! And if you ever want to do a random hangout send me a message via facebook. If I'm home I can hop on my laptop as I get the messages sent to my phone. :)

    1. I've been considering the square ornament which would be sewn like a biscornu only in a square so it's just stuffing and whip stitch...OMG I just had an idea...if I do the square with the whip stitch I can add BEADS and make it prettier than it already is!!!

I can't believe you don't have a sewing machine already! I have a regular Singer I think I got on sale for $49 at Wal Mart. I don't need anything fancy, and don't use anything other than straight stitch usually. So if you haven't started using a machine yet, then don't worry, what a machine can do you can too!

And yes, Random Hangouts will OCCUR!!!

    2. Beads!!! ^_^ Always a fun addition. haha

I don't have one mostly because I've never done anything but just frame my projects. It's only recently that I've wanted to start doing different things that a sewing machine would be good for (mostly my wall hanging) but I'm pretty sure I could hand-sew ornaments if needed and right now a sewing machine would be just one more thing to move.

    3. I kept thinking about it afterwards and think that is the way to go...now to decide if it's ornaments or the biscornu...either way BEADS!!!

I agree, no need to lug a heavy sewing machine around...not to mention all of the extra stuff you will need for it....wait precious...wait <3

    4. Haha biscornu would be practical but I dunno....to me this project screams ornaments. But that's just me. :)

When I do end up getting one I'm going to do my research and get a good one

  3. It's so pretty, I so want to make them, and stop using the work so, what is wrong with me this morning. I haven't seen Atonement, which is a little strange as I love the actors in it. Maybe it's on Netflix......Nope,

    2. Ok who spiked my coffee this morning, did any of that make any sense.
Almost finished my biscornu, have to wait for the pattern so don't want to start anything major, but you have a new contest starting, so maybe then I'll know what I want.
